Frequently Asked Questions

Commonly Asked Questions About Selling Your Boat to Premier Boating Centers

We buy most late-model outboard, inboard, and sterndrive boats in good condition—center consoles, bay boats, pontoons, bass boats, and more. Generally, we’re most interested in boats 2011 or newer for outboards and 2016 or newer for inboards.

Whether you decide to sell us your boat or consign with us, we will appraise the boat and bring it in for our mechanic to check it out to ensure it is in the safe and sellable condition it was appraised in.

With an outright purchase, we will pay you via wire or check after the boat has been checked out and the offer has been finalized.

With net consignment, we agree on a minimum amount you’ll receive once the boat sells, and we sell the boat on your behalf. Anything above that amount covers our fees and handling.

Once we receive the boat, we can wire your funds in 48-72 hours if needed.

In total, it typically takes 5-7days business days between the time we get the boat, check it out, and send you the funds if you’re not in a big rush.

No. We offer local pick-up at no cost to you. If your boat is located further from our store closest to you, we can arrange transport of your boat to our store for the check-out.

Nope, our boat appraisal as well as the check-out are 100% free, with no obligation to sell/consign.. We’ll give you a fair market evaluation based on current listings, sold comps, and condition. If this offer is acceptable to you, we will then get the boat in for check-out.

Yes, you must be the legal owner listed on the title/registration or have proper legal documentation (like power of attorney or estate paperwork such as a Letter of Testamentary). If there is another person on the titles/registration, they must sign the purchase/consignment paperwork as well.

That’s no problem. We can handle loan payoffs and work directly with your lender. Any remaining equity will be paid directly to you.

In the case in which you owe more on your boat than we can offer, we will call the bank for payoff and determine the amount you will need to pay to the bank and once that payment has cleared and reflected in the payoff, we can move forward with paying off the boat.

Or

  • We call the bank to get your payoff
  • We will tell you the amount of the payment you need to make to the bank
  • Once that difference is paid and confirmed, we pay off the remaining balance.

We use real-time market data including the amount for which comparable boats have actually sold recently, current listings, JD Power/NADA values, engine hours, condition, and regional demand. Our buyers treat each boat as unique and take into account any and all value-adding aspects that the boat has and do not use generic valuations when creating your offer.

Our offer represents the value of your boat in a safe and sellable condition meaning that we could bring it in, give it a clean bill of health, and put it out on the lot to sell with confidence to back the condition of the boat to the new owner.

Yes, most boats that people are selling need some type of serving or repairs, so we expect that most boats will need something from annual service to component replacement which is what makes our check-out process so valuable. We buy/consign boats that need cosmetic and/or mechanical work with only the cost to get it to the safe and sellable value that it was appraised at being deducted from our initial offer.

However, we generally avoid boats with structural damage or major unknown issues. We’re happy to take a look and give you an honest answer.
